How we make money
We earn a commission on some referrals — and it never changes our ranking or what we tell you.
- When you click through to a provider and sign up, some partners pay us a referral fee.
- Our rankings are set by a public rubric, before any partner is involved.
- We list cheaper options that pay us nothing whenever they're the better move.
- The catch we watch for: the pressure to bury the honest answer. This page is how we stay accountable to not doing that.
Where the money comes from
Rung is free to read. We're funded mainly by affiliate and referral commissions: if you follow a link to a provider and open an account, that provider may pay us a fee. Links that earn us a commission are labeled as advertiser links — see our advertiser disclosure.
We may also earn from clearly marked sponsored placements in the future. If we ever do, they'll be labeled as such and kept out of the ranked comparisons entirely.
What it never touches
Our rankings, ratings, and the plain verdict on each page are set by our rating rubric — cost first. Not by who pays us, or how much. A partner cannot buy a higher rank, a softer "wrong for you" section, or the removal of a cheaper competitor.
How we protect you from the conflict
Three structural guardrails, on every page:
- We rank by a published rubric that scores cost first, applied the same way to every product.
- We name the cheaper move even when it earns us nothing — including "don't borrow at all."
- We spell out who each product is wrong for, in plain terms, on the product's own page.
If you ever find a page that reads like it's protecting a partner instead of you, tell us at hello@rungfinancial.com — that's a bug, and we'll fix it.
